Scholarships still available!!!

Due to the generosity of our sponsors, we still have four more general scholarships available. Students from developing countries can submit their application together with supporting documents (see below) by May 4, 2017.


The organizing committee are working very hard to secure more funding to help students defray the costs of attending ChulaSEALing2017. Currently, we are delighted to offer the following grants.

  • Accommodation grants for students from developing countries (6,000 baht toward on-campus housing)
    • 3 grants from Mouton de Gruyter
    • 12 grants from Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University
  • Ten general sholarships from Sydney from Sydney Southeast Asia Center University of Sydney (440 US dollars each) for students from developing countries
  • Two general scholarships from the Permanent International Committee of Linguists (500 euros each) for students who work on issues relating to language endangerment, language revitalisation, and language documentation.

All scholarships are merit-based. Applications will be evaluated according to academic potential of the applicant, and the significance of applicant’s research to Southeast Asian Linguistics. As the grants are relatively modest, please also find additional funding to cover your expenses.To apply, you must submit the following documents.

  • Proof of student status (student ID/ official letter from your institution/etc.)
  • One recommendation letter from your academic advisor
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • A short description of your current project outlining your research question, hypothesis, and methodology, and the contribution of your research to the field of Southeast Asian Linguistics (not exceeding 1,000 words).
