Admission Process:

1. Applicants are to send a Statement of Purpose to the Head of the Department of Library Science, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University course no. 2206352 Vocational Editor by means of evaluation of school-record in S/U. Applicants are to state their names in Thai and English with E-mails and the following requirements:

  1. 3 sets of 1 inch attached photo (First name and Surname at the back of the photo).
  2. 1 copy of national ID card (With approved signature).
  3. 1 copy of census (With approved signature).
  4. 1 copy of Academic Achievement (With approved signature).

Interested applicants are to send the following documents at the Administrative Office of the Department of Library Science Faculty of Arts, Boromrajakumari Building, 8th fl., room 823, before July 25, 2014.

2. The Department will inform the ID number and password for registration purposes through the informed e-mail (Around the end of July 2014). Applicants may register the course through Chulalongkorn University’s website (www.reg.chula.ac.th -> login -> Register Course).

3. Applicants are to pay the tuition fee of 8,500 baht at the Finance Division of Chulalongkorn University at Chamchuri 5 Bldg. (Within the first week of the semester).

4. Schedule for Academic Year 2014: Friday 13:00-16:00 at room no. 401/9 Faculty of Arts, Mahachakri Sirindhorn Bldg.

5. Subject Description:

Introduction to Editorial Studies and skills for various departments of editorial works: Original Editors, Translated Editors, Art Editors, Managing Editors, Book Editors, Journal Editors, and Electronic Editors.

6. Objectives:

  • Able to explain the basics and working of Editors.
  • Able to explain the process and techniques in print production and coordinate with the publisher.
  • Able to explain the principles of managing printing presses.
  • Perform duty in the role of various division Editors in accordance to the required projects.

7. Program for Academic Year 2014:

  1. An introduction to the course, assignments, and essential readings.
  2. Introduction to Basic Skills needed for various department of Editors.
  3. Structural Editors and the importance of Vocation.
  4. Studies of Vocational Editors and Managing Editors.
  5. Original Editors and Translated Editors.
  6. Arts Editors, Appearance Editors, and Aesthetics of Publication.
  7. Book Editors and Journal Editors.
  8. Ethics of Vocation, Criterion for Vocational Editors and Social Responsibility.
  9. Book Editors, and Electronic Editors.
  10. Editing Skills for Original Manuscript.
  11. Examining Skills for Book Components.
  12. Skills and Proficiency for Vocation Branches, Conclusion,  Examination, Presentation, and Discussion.
