Self-unfinished

On October 20, 2009, BALAC students watched France-born Berlin-based Xavier Le Roy’s conceptual dance performance “Self-Unfinished” at Alliance francaise de Bangkok Auditorium.

 

 
Carmen

On October 3, 2009, BALAC students watched 12 Inch Theatre’s intercultural dance theatre production Carmen at Alliance francaise de Bangkok Auditorium.

 

Moon Water

On September 23, BALAC students watched Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan’s Moon Water, part of Bangkok’s 11th International Festival of Dance and Music, at Thailand Cultural Centre’s Main Hall.

Earlier that day, BALAC student Lalita Jantaro, a ballet dancer, joined professional dancers and choreographers in the contemporary dance masterclass led by Cloud Gate’s associate artistic director Lee Ching Chun at Thailand Cultural Centre’s semi-circle room.

 

 
The Battle of Sang Athit

On August 12, 2009, BALAC students and Faculty of Arts’ undergraduate and graduate students watched Pichet Klunchun Dance Company’s contemporary khon titled The Battle of Sang Athit at Alliance francaise de Bangkok Auditorium. After the performance, the students participated in a Q&A session with Silpathorn Award dancer and choreographer Pichet Klunchun. The program was financially supported by Faculty of Arts’ Student Affairs Division.

 

 
Nangfa Niranam : A Play about the Life and HIV Drug Development Work of Dr. Krisana Kraisintu

On August 29, BALAC students watched Department of Dramatic Arts’ production of Nangfa Niranam (Ping Chong and Vince Licata’s Cocktail) at Studio 4, Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC). After the performance, the students shared opinions with professional theatre critics—Ajarn Kittisak Suwannapokin, Ajarn Apirak Chaipanha, Khun Nuttapat Wongrianthong, and Khun Amitha Amranand

The three sisters

On August 26, BALAC students watched Japanese dance theatre company Pappa Tarahumara’s The Three Sisters  at  Patravadi Theatre.

 

 
Presse

On June 24, 2009, BALAC and Thai BA freshmen went to see the contemporary dance titled "Presse" by Pierre Rigal (Compagnie Derniere Minute) at the Aksra Theatre. The performance was part of the 2009 La Fete, an annual French-Thai Cultural Festival.

Orientation Day 2009

On May 25, 2009, The Bachelor of Arts Program in Language and Culture organized the Orientation Day to familiarize students with academic activities and campus life. The day began with a welcome speech by BALAC Director, Ajarn Suradech Chotiudompant, Ph.D., followed by a talk on the BALAC curriculum by Ajarn Pacharee Tachart.

Then Ajarn Michael Crabtree gave a presentation on student facilities, followed by a talk by the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Assistant Professor Sankavat Pradithpongse, along with our BALAC sophomores, on student activities. The orientation ended with students meeting their advisors.

BALAC Meets Parents

On January 24, 2009, The BA Program in Language and Culture organized a meeting for parents of BALAC students under the title, "BALAC Meets Parents." The Dean, Assistant Professor Prapod Assavavirulhakarn, Ph.D. got proceedings off to a perfect start with a warm welcome speech that had just the right touch of friendly casualness. This was followed by a productive information session delivered by Ajarn Suradech Chotiudompant, Ph.D., BALAC Director, that briefed parents on academic activities as well as general rules and regulations of the Program.

Then Assistant Professor Sankavat Praditpongse, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, also spoke about student activities and campus life. The meeting ended with short talks by two outstanding Arts alumni, Ms.Supreeya Sonthiarunthat and Ajarn Penchan Phothiborisuth, who were invited to share with the audience their views on potential career paths for BALAC graduates.

Likhit Naga Likay

On November 25, 2008, BALAC students had a chance to watch "Likhit Naga", a contemporary likay production, as part of the Bangkok Theatre Festival at the Lido Theatre, Siam Square.

Wind in the Void Ballet
On September 24, 2008, BALAC students had a chance to watch Zurich Ballet's "Winds in the Void", as part of Bangkok's 10th International Festival of Dance and Music at the main hall of the Thailand Cultural Centre.

The Birth of Ganesha Thai Puppets

On September 13, 2008, BALAC and Thai BA freshmen joined together to watch "Hun Lakorn Lek: The Birth of Ganesha" (the recipient of "Best Performance" award from World Festival of Puppet Art 2008 in Prague) at the Natayasala (Joe Louis) Theatre at the Suan Lum Night Bazaar. After the show ended, student representatives tried the puppetry with the theatre's puppeteers.

Freshy Days

On August 23-24, 2008, the Arts Student Committee organized Arts Freshy Days for BALAC students. Activities consisted of an introduction to University and Faculty songs, an overview of campus life and a walk rally.

In Tune Contemporary Dance

On August 20, 2008, as part of the "Theatre and Film Appreciation" class, BALAC students watched a contemporary dance performance entitled "In Tune" at Patravadi Theatre. A day later, "In Tune" producer, choreographer, and director Jitti Chompee visited the class at BRK 402 to discuss the performance's messages and styles of presentation.

Orientation Day 2008

On Friday, August 8, 2008, The Bachelor of Arts Program in Language and Culture organized the Orientation Day to familiarize students with academic activities and campus life. The day began with a welcome speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Theraphan Luangthongkum, Ph.D., followed by a speech by BALAC Director, Ajarn Suradech Chotiudompant, Ph.D.

After the speeches representatives from the French, Japanese, Spanish and Chinese Sections met the students. Then the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Assistant Professor Patama Attanatho talked about student activities and campus life. The morning session ended with students meeting their advisors. In the afternoon the Arts Student Committee took BALAC students on a campus tour.
