Abstract

Presents a study of linguistics in terms of incorporation in Thai verbs, regarding the approach proposed by Jeffrey S. Gruber. Limites the incorporation of nouns or prepositional phrase. Attempts to classify incorporation in Thai verbs and to identify the cases which can be incorporated. Describes in detail three types of incorporation in according to obligatory, optional, and conditional. Regards to cases, finds out five cases can be incorporated. Composes of instrumental, objectives, locative, source, and goal. Summarizes the results of the study, recommendations for further study, bibliographies and appendices related to the study are included
 

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้เป็นการศึกษาการรวมความหมายในคำกริยาภาษาไทยตามเกณฑ์ของ เจฟฟรีย์ เอส กรูเบอร์ ขอบเขตของการศึกษาจำกัดเฉพาะการรวมความหมายของคำนามหรือบุพบทวลีไว้ในคำกริยา และมีวัตถุประสงค์ในการศึกษา 2 ประการ คือ เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะการเกิดของการรวมความหมายว่ามีกี่ประเภท และเพื่อศึกษาว่าการรวมความหมายในคำกริยานั้นเกี่ยวข้องกับการกใดบ้าง

ผลของการศึกษาสรุปได้ว่า การรวมความหมายมี 3 ประเภท คือ ประเภทการรวมความหมายที่ต้องเกิด ประเภทการรวมความหมายที่อาจจะเกิดหรือไม่เกิดก็ได้ และประเภทการรวมความหมายที่มีเงื่อนไขในการเกิด ประเภทที่ 3 นี้เป็นประเภทที่ผู้วิจัยเพิ่มเติมจากกรูเบอร์ ซึ่งมีเพียง 2 ประเภทแรก นอกจากนี้ การรวมความหมายสามารถรวมคำนามซึ่งมีความสัมพันธ์กับคำกริยาในการกต่างๆ ได้ 5 ชนิด คือ เครื่องมือ ผู้ทรงรับ สถานที่ จุดเริ่มต้น และจุดหมาย ผลของการศึกษายังแสดงด้วยว่า การรวมความหมายส่วนใหญ่เกิดขึ้นกับคำนามเฉพาะคำใดคำหนึ่ง การรวมความหมายของคำนามในคำกริยาจึงเป็นลักษณะเฉพาะของคำกริยาเป็นคำๆ ไป
