Abstract |
The objective of this study is an analysis of the syntactic and semantic properties of concessive sentences in Thai. A concessive sentence in Thai is composed of an adverbial clause and a main clause. It is classified as a complex sentence. However, the presence of lee and Ko gives the sentence and added feature of a compound sentence. The two compound connectives only occur when the subordinate clause precedes the main clause. Concessive sentences can be divided syntactically into two types, based on the positioning of the adverbial clause : Type 1 with an adverbial clause preceding the main clause and Type 2 with an adverbial clause following the main clause. Connectives in concessive sentences can be divided into those linking the main clause and the adverbial clause, and those preceding the adverbial clause. In Type 1 concessive sentences, the linking connective is optional but in Type 2 concessive sentences, the linking connective is absent. The position of the adverbial clause does not change the semantic content of the sentence. Semantically, concessive sentences in Thai consist of two parts : the condition and the insistence. The first part, represented in the adverbial clause, supplies the concessional condition offered by the speaker. The second part is represented in the main clause. It supplies the state or the event which counters the natural expectation of the concession. The condition found in concessive sentences can be one of these three types : irrealis condition, realis condition, and potential condition. The classification is based on the semantic content of the connective and the adverbial clause itself. Concessive sentences in Thai can also be divided on semantic basis into three types : definite concessive sentences, disjunctive concessive sentences, and indefinite concessive sentences. |

การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์คุณสมบัติและจำแนกประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันในภาษาไทย ตามเกณฑ์วากยสัมพันธ์ และเกณฑ์อรรถศาสตร์ ผลการศึกษาสรุปได้ว่าประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันในภาษาไทยประกอบด้วย วิเศษณานุประโยค และมุขยประโยค จึงจัดเป็น สังกรประโยค อย่างไรก็ดีการปรากฏของ แต่ และ ก็ ในประโยคที่วิเศษณานุประโยคนำมุขยประโยค ทำให้ประโยคเหล่านี้มีลักษณะของอเนกรรถประโยคอยู่ด้วย ประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันในภาษาไทย สามารถจำแนกด้วยเกณฑ์ทางวากยสัมพันธ์ได้เป็น 2 ประเภทตามตำแหน่งการปรากฏของวิเศษณานุประโยค คือ ประเภทที่ 1 ประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันที่วิเศษณานุประโยค นำหน้า มุขยประโยค และประเภทที่ 2 ประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันที่วิเศษณานุประโยค ตามหลัง มุขยประโยค คำเชื่อมในประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยัน สามารถแบ่งได้เป็น คำเชื่อมที่เชื่อมวิเศษณานุประโยคเข้ากับมุขยประโยค และคำเชื่อมนำวิเศษณานุประโยค ประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันประเภทแรก อาจมีค่าเชื่อมระหว่างมุขยประโยคกับวิเศษณานุประโยคหรือไม่ก็ได้ ส่วนประเภทที่สองนั้น คำเชื่อมระหว่างมุขยประโยคและวิเศษณานุประโยคจะไม่ปรากฏ คำเชื่อมนำวิเศษณานุประโยคของทั้งสองประเภทจะปรากฎเสมอ นอกจากนี้ พบว่าตำแหน่งของวิเศษณานุประโยคไม่ทำให้คุณสมบัติทางอรรถศาสตร์ของประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันเปลี่ยนแปลง ในทางอรรถศาสตร์ องค์ประกอบของประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันในภาษาไทยมี 2 ส่วน คือ ส่วนแสดงเงื่อนไข และส่วนแสดงการยืนยัน ส่วนแสดงเงื่อนไข จะแสดงโดยวิเศษณานุประโยค มีข้อความแสดงการยอมอ่อนข้อเพื่อไม่ให้เหตุการณ์ในส่วนแสดงการยืนยันเกิด ส่วนแสดงการยืนยัน จะแสดงโดยมุขยประโยค มีข้อความค้านความคาดหมายตามเงื่อนไข เงื่อนไขที่แสดงในประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันจำแนกเป็น 3 แบบ คือ เงื่อนไขที่เกิดจริง เงื่อนไขที่ไม่เกิดจริง และเงื่อนไขที่อาจเกิดจริง โดยใช้เกณฑ์ ความหมายของคำเชื่อมนำวิเศษณานุประโยค และความหมายของอนุประโยคในส่วนที่เป็นเงื่อนไข ประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันในภาษาไทยยังสามารถจำแนกด้วยเกณฑ์อรรถศาสตร์ของคำเชื่อมได้เป็น 3 ประเภท ได้แก่ ประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันที่แสดงการยอมให้ด้วยการเจาะจงเงื่อนไขชัดเจน ประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันที่แสดงการยอมให้โดยมีหลายเงื่อนไขให้เลือก และประโยคเงื่อนไขเพื่อยืนยันที่แสดงการยอมให้โดยบอกเงื่อนไขกว้าง ๆ |
