Abstract

To find out what languages are used in Pattani and Narathiwat provinces and in which areas and also at producing a language map of Pattani and Narathiwat based on the results of the study. The data was collected by means of questionnaires containing 50 semantic units which were selected on the basis of their being represented by different lexical items in Pattani Malay, Southern Thai and Tak Bai. The questionnaires were sent by post to the principals of 188 school under the Provincial Elementary Education Office in both provinces. 81.62 percent of the total number of questionnaires sent was returned. The results show that 3 languages : Pattani Malay, Southern Thai and Tak Bai are spoken in Pattani and Narathiwat and 7 language areas are found, i.e., 1. the Pattani Malay area covers most of the area of both provinces, 2. the Southern Thai area comprises 2 tambons in Khokphodhi district and Maelan sub-district, Pattani province, 3. the Tak Bai area comprises 3 tambons in Tak Bai, Sungaipadi and Sukhirin districts, Narathiwat province, 4. the Pattani Malay-Southern Thai area comprises 14 tambons in Khokphodhi and Nongchik districts and Maelan sub-district, Pattani province and 5 tambons in Ruso, Rangae, Sungai Kolok and Sukhirin districts, Narathiwat province, 5. the Pattani Malay-Tak Bai area comprises 7 tambons in Tak Bai and Maung districts, Narathiwat province and 2 tambons in Saiburi district and Mai Kaen sub-district, Pattani province, 6. the Southern Thai-Tak Bai area comprises 2 tambons in Panareh district, Pattani province, and 7. the Pattani Malay-Southern Thai-Tak Bai area comprises 5 tambons in Panareh and Saiburi districts, Pattani province and 1 tambon in Srisakhorn district, Narathiwat province

เพื่อสำรวจภาษาที่ใช้พูดในจังหวัดปัตตานีและนราธิวาส และศึกษาว่าแต่ละภาษามีพื้นที่ภาษาอยู่ในบริเวณใด แล้วนำผลที่ได้มาทำแผนที่ภาษาจังหวัดปัตตานีและนราธิวาส ข้อมูลในการวิจัยได้จากการส่งแบบสอบถาม ซึ่งประกอบด้วย หน่วยอรรถจำนวน 50 หน่วยอรรถ ซึ่งมีการใช้ศัพท์ที่แตกต่างกันในภาษาที่ศึกษาทางไปรษณีย์ไปยังอาจารย์ใหญ่ของโรงเรียนในสังกัดสำนักงานการประถมศึกษาจังหวัดของทั้งสองจังหวัด จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 188 โรงเรียน แบบสอบถามที่ได้รับกลับคืนมาคิดเป็นร้อยละ 81.62 ของแบบสอบถามทั้งหมด ผลการวิจัยแสดงว่าในจังหวัดปัตตานีและนราธิวาส มีภาษาที่ประชาชนใช้ในการติดต่อสื่อสารกันอยู่ 3 ภาษา คือ ภาษามลายูถิ่น (ปัตตานี) ภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้ทั่วไป และภาษาไทยถิ่นตากใบ โดยสามารถกำหนดพื้นที่ภาษาได้เป็น 7 พื้นที่ คือ 1 พื้นที่ภาษามลายูถิ่น มีอาณาบริเวณครอบคลุมพื้นที่ส่วนใหญ่ของจังหวัดปัตตานีและนราธิวาส 2. พื้นที่ภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้ทั่วไป ซึ่งอยู่ใน 2 ตำบลในอำเภอโคกโพธิ์และกิ่งอำเภอแม่ลาน จังหวัดปัตตานี 3. พื้นที่ภาษาไทยถิ่นตากใบ ซึ่งอยู่ใน 3 ตำบลในอำเภอตากใบ อำเภอสุไหงปาดี และอำเภอสุคิริน จังหวัดนราธิวาส 4. พื้นที่ภาษามลายูถิ่นกับภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้ทั่วไป ซึ่งอยู่ใน 14 ตำบลในอำเภอโคกโพธิ์ อำเภอหนองจิก และกิ่งอำเภอแม่ลาน จังหวัดปัตตานี และอีก 5 ตำบล ซึ่งกระจายอยู่ในอำเภอรือเสาะ อำเภอระแงะ อำเภอสุไหงโก-ลก และอำเภอสุคิริน จังหวัดนราธิวาส 5. พื้นที่ภาษามลายูถิ่นกับภาษาไทยถิ่นตากใบ ซึ่งอยู่ใน 7 ตำบลในอำเภอตากใบ และอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดนราธิวาส กับอีก 2 ตำบลในอำเภอสายบุรี และกิ่งอำเภอไม้แก่น จังหวัดปัตตานี 6. พื้นที่ภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้ทั่วไปกับภาษาไทยถิ่นตากใบ ซึ่งอยู่ใน 2 ตำบลในอำเภอปะนาเระ จังหวัดปัตตานี 7. พื้นที่ภาษามลายูถิ่นกับภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้ทั่วไปและภาษาไทยถิ่นตากใบ ซึ่งอยู่ใน 5 ตำบลในอำเภอปะนาเระและอำเภอสายบุรี จังหวัดปัตตานี กับอีก 1 ตำบลในอำเภอศรีสาคร จังหวัดนราธิวาส
