Abstract |
The objective of this thesis is to study conceptual war metaphor in sport news in Thai newspapers which reflects people's attitude towards sports. Data include 10 kinds of sport news : football, rugby, basketball, fencing, boxing, judo, takraw, volleyball, tennis, and golf collected from 3 daily newspaper, Thairad, Dailynews, Khawsod and 3 sport newspapers,Saimkila, Loakkila, Muaysiam published before, during and after the SEA games from December 1995 till January 1996. There are 205 pieces of sport news. The tools for selecting war metaphor expressions are a set of 14 sentence frames. Two hundred and forty-sevenexpressions were found : forty-nine true war metaphors and one hundred and ninety-eight implicit war metaphors. A comparison of the percentage of frequency of war metaphor in the news of different kinds of sport shows a difference in the frequency of the use of war metaphors. This difference in frequency seems to correlate with two factors : the possibility of bodily contact and participation as a team. Finding shows that Thai people see different degrees of war-likeness in sport which depend on how much bodily contact and whether it is a team or an individual who is participating in that particular sport. Based on the degree of war-likeness, the 10 sports can be ranked as follows : boxing, basketball, football, fencing, rugby, takraw, volleyball, tennis, judo, and golf. |

วัตถุประสงค์ของงานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ คือ การศึกษาอุปลักษณ์ข่าวสงครามในข่าวกีฬาในหนังสือพิมพ์ภาษาไทยที่สะท้อนให้เห็นทัศนะของคนไทยที่มีต่อกีฬา ในการศึกษาใช้ข้อมูลข่าวกีฬา 10 ชนิด ได้แก่ ฟุตบอล รักบี้ บาสเกตบอล ฟันดาบ ยูโด มวย ตะกร้อ วอลเล่ย์บอล เทนนิส และ กอล์ฟ ซึ่งลงพิมพ์ในหนังสือพิมพ์ทั่วไป ได้แก่ ไทยรัฐ เดลินิวส์ ข่าวสด และหนังสือพิมพ์ข่าวกีฬาโดยเฉพาะได้แก่ สยามกีฬา โลกกีฬา มวยสยาม โดยเก็บรวบรวมข่าวในช่วงการแข่งขันกีฬาซีเกมส์ระหว่างเดือน ธันวาคม 2538 ถึง เดือนมกราคม 2539 ได้ข้อมูลจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 205 ข่าว ในการรวบรวมข้อมูลอุปลักษณ์สงครามจากข่าวกีฬา ผู้วิจัยใช้ประโยคทดสอบความหมายเกี่ยวกับการทำสงครามในการคัดเลือกพบว่ามีรูปภาษาที่แสดงอุปลักษณ์สงครามจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 247 หน่วย เป็นรูปภาษาที่แสดงอุปลักษณ์สงครามโดยตรงจำนวน 49 หน่วย และรูปภาษาที่แสดงอุปลักษณ์สงครามโดยรวม จำนวน 198 หน่วย เมื่อวิเคราะห์เป็นร้อยละ (%) ของความถี่ของการใช้รูปภาษาที่แสดงอุปลักษณ์ต่อปริมาณคำในข่าวกีฬาทั้ง 10 ชนิด ได้พบว่ากีฬาแต่ละชนิดมีความถี่ของการใช้รูปภาษาที่แสดงอุปลักษณ์สงครามมากน้อยแตกต่างกัน โดยประเภทกีฬาที่มีการกระทบกระทั่งมีความถี่ของการใช้รูปภาษาที่แสดงอุปลักษณ์สงครามมากกว่ากีฬาที่ไม่มีการกระทบกระทั่งและกีฬาที่มีการแข่งขันเป็นทีมมีความถี่ของการใช้อุปลักษณ์สงครามมากกว่ากีฬาที่แข่งขันกันเป็นบุคคล จึงอาจสรุปผลการวิจัยได้ว่าคนไทยมองเห็นความเป็นสงครามในกีฬาแตกต่างกันไป ทั้งนี้ขึ้นอยู่กับลักษณะของการแข่งขันกีฬาที่สำคัญ 2 ประการ คือ ลักษณะของการกระทบกระทั่งขณะแข่งขันกีฬา และลักษณะของการแข่งขันเป็นทีม จึงสามารถจัดลำดับกีฬา 10 ชนิดตามความมากน้อยของความเป็นสงครามได้ดังนี้ มวย บาสเกตบอล ฟุตบอล ฟันดาบ รักบี้ ตะกร้อ วอลเล่ย์บอล เทนนิส ยูโด และ กอล์ฟ |
