About the department
The department of Linguistics, Facuty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University was established in 1977. It was the first to offer degree in linguistics in Thailand. Currently, the department offers degrees (M.A. and Ph.D.) in linugistics. It also offers minor programme and free elective course for undergraduates.
The Faculty of Arts was established in 1917 as one of the first four faculties of the university. The faculty offers degrees in fields of language, literature, history, philosophy, dramatic arts, geography, library science, etc. Currently, approximately 2,000 students are enrolled in the faculty. Its library is located in one of the oldest buildings on campus and houses one of the biggest linguistics collections in Southeast Asia.
