Conducted in English, these programs are designed to suit those who are interested in all aspects of Thai culture and society. The Center also makes available an occasional program in Thai Studies, in which participants take courses of their interests without obtaining a degree. Participants are free to take as many courses as they wish.\n<P><br>Additionally, the Center offers special programs customized to match specific interests and time frames of those who visit Thailand for a brief period of time or are unable to enroll in the regular programs.\nApart from the instructions, the Thai Studies Center is active in research as evident in a list of publications of the Center. Our Graduate Program in Information Studies (GPIS) aims at producing proficient and independent scholars who are enthusiastic about finding solutions to the challenges facing information studies, and leaders in information and library science profession. Our M.A. program is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP). The curriculum focuses on areas such as\n<ul>\n \t<li>Nature of information;<\/li>\n \t<li>Storage, retrieval, processing, analysis, and dissemination of information;<\/li>\n \t<li>Human behavioural approaches to the analysis and application of information;<\/li>\n \t<li>Access to information; and<\/li>\n \t<li>Information system design and management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<br>Information studies and research will enable students to creatively and appropriately manage data, information, and information systems which will ultimately lead to finding optimum solutions and policy making in the abovementioned areas. These include the Intensive Thai Program, Communicative Thai for Beginners, Reading and Writing Thai, Academic Thai for Advanced Learners, Thai for Mandarin Chinese Speakers, as well as private classes tailored to both individuals and groups. Moreover, the Center also provides a variety of courses at different levels to international and exchange students who are keen on learning basic to advanced level Thai.<\/p><p>Last but not least, our Center also offers a summer program for international participants who wish to learn more about Thailand and its rich history and cultural heritage. The program is designed around 4 lecture series on Thai history, Thai society, Thai language and literature, and Thai culture (festivals, food, and music). The classes in survival Thai introduce the participants to the enjoyment of communicating in the colorful Thai language. For hands-on experience, workshops on popular Thai cuisine, art, and recreation are provided. The program also includes trips to famous landmarks in the city of Bangkok and an overnight stay at a seaside or historical province.
