To make our literary <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1355 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.arts.chula.ac.th\/~english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/walden-e1636352814594.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"115\" height=\"178\" \/>journey more exciting, we will focus on texts that contain \u201cmysterious and monstrous\u201d elements which include mysteries, ghosts, the supernatural, as well as eccentricity in human thoughts and behavior. We will examine these texts in an attempt to understand the period\u2019s literary movements and the unique writing style of various writers. While examining them in the socio-political context of 19th-century America, we will also discuss how these texts are still relevant to 21st-century readers.
