The Department of Geography has collaborated with leading universities in the UK under the programme of the British Council, Thai-UK World-Class University Consortium. With the support of British Council, the collaboration has been made between the department of geography with University of Sussex (Dr.John Barlow and Dr.Yi Wang), The London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE) (Professor Hyun Bang Shin), and University of Bristol (Professor Jonathan Rigg). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project period<\/strong>: 1 Feb 2022 – 31 Jan 2023 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funding: <\/strong>Thai-UK World-class University Consortium, British Council <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research collaboration and workshop are the main objectives of our collaboration. Therefore, the department is having a co-research project with the UK Universities. The project name is Modelling Flood Risk and Community Resilience in Rayong Province, Thailand. Moreover, a workshop for students and staffs of the department was organized. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

0n 18th<\/sup> \u2013 27th<\/sup>\nMay 2022, Dr. John Barlow and Dr. Yi\nWang from University of Sussex, Prof. Hyun Bang Shin from LSE, and Prof. Jonathan Rigg from University\nof Bristol visited Thailand in order to organize a workshop and to do the co \u2013\nresearch project fieldwork. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was arranged during 21st <\/sup>\u2013 22nd<\/sup> May\n2022 at 9.30am \u2013 16.00pm at the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. The\nworkshop was divided into four themes, Applied Geomorphology\nand site evaluation by Dr. John Barlow, Global Climate\nmodel for future climate projection by Dr. Yi Wang,\nQualitative Research Design by Prof. Hyun Bang Shin, and Thematic framework for interviews analysis by Prof.\nJonathan Rigg. The two – day workshop had approximately 60 attendees. Most of the\nattendees were the department of geography staffs and students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 23rd<\/sup>\n\u2013 25th<\/sup> May 2022, both Department of Geography team and the U.K. team\nwent to the Ranyong Province to do fieldwork. Our three day fieldwork programme\nwas visiting government agencies involved in flood management, surveying the\nstudy area, and interviewing members of the communities located in our study\narea. This fieldwork is a part of our co \u2013 research project, Modelling Flood\nRisk and Community Resilience in Rayong Province, Thailand.\nThe outcome of this co \u2013 research project is to publish research articles in\nhigh-ranking Scopus journal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
