I received my BA in History from York University (Canada), and completed my MA and PhD from University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA). My early work concerned print culture, public sphere, and socio-cultural history of literature. Since then my research has focused on two different topics, one on a genealogy of modern Thai historical thinking and writing, and the other on histories of cultural and political concepts (e.g. obscenity, culture, multiculturalism, absolute monarchy, morality, and justice). Recently, I have turned to (the history of) political thought in the Reign of King Chulalongkorn, particularly on the context and consequences of the \u201cProposal for Reform of the Siamese Government, 1885.\u201d<\/p>\n<p
