We must take a stand in the \nface of fake news and the denigration of truth and expertise by those \nwith power and influence. Information professionals are uniquely \npositioned to contribute our expertise to addressing one of the most \nprofoundly damaging issues of our time: disregard for expertise and for \ncredible, fact-based information. We have the intellectual and practical\n tools to address these issues and we have a professional responsibility\n to employ them. This talk will address the ways in which we can \nexercise these responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About a speaker<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Heidi Julien is a Professor in the \nDepartment of Information Science at the University at Buffalo, State \nUniversity of New York (SUNY).
