This interactive one-day session,\u00a0&#8220;Library\u00a0Knowledge Organization Systems: Make More of Your Metadata,&#8221; will cover lesson learns from an experienced practitioner and a scholar in knowledge organization in the US and Australia plus an opportunity to learn from each other on applications of knowledge organization systems and standards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Target Audiences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Library catalogers, metadata specialists, knowledge organizers, system librarians, and library automation system administrators (30 persons)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>November 2, 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Room 501\/27-29 and 711 Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Building<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>8:30-9.00: Registration (Room 501\/27-29)<br \/>\n9:00-10:30: Presentation: Library Knowledge Organization Systems in America and Australia (Room 501\/27-29)<br \/>\n10-30-11:30: Focus Group (Room 501\/27-29)<br \/>\n11:30-13:00: Lunch Break (Meals at own cost)<br \/>\n13:00-16:00: Workshop: Using Facet Analysis to Create Customized Vocabulary Tools (Room 711)<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Speaker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hollie White, Ph.D. is a lecturer in the Library, Archives, Records and Information Science Program at Curtin University in Perth, Australia. Hollie teaches and researches in the areas of information organization, repositories, library assessment, and cross-cultural knowledge organization. Prior to coming to Curtin in March 2017, Hollie was Digital Initiative Librarian at the Duke University\u2019s J. Michael Goodson\u2019s Law Library in Durham, North Carolina in the United States where she managed the law school\u2019s institutional repository and led the program to create a \u201cculture of assessment\u201d in the library. She has a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Arts in English from the University of Georgia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This session is a free event.
