The department of comparative literature has produced over 30 graduation classes since 1976 when it was still a sub-departmental unit. The program attracts students from diverse educational backgrounds, which are not limited to the fields of language and literature, but also include economics, political sciences, sociology, anthropology, natural science, engineering etc. This is a proof of our belief in diversity and open opportunities for any eligible candidate who loves to pursue the study of literature.
Comparative literature graduates are qualified for many career choices. Most MA graduates become university lecturers or teachers in relevant educational institutions. A number of our graduates work in the field of literature and publishing such as becoming editors, writers, translators etc. Some are employed in governmental and private sectors, or conduct their own businesses. Over recent years, a significant number of our graduates have pursued and completed a PhD in the fields related to literature, with scholarships provided by recognizable funding bodies or by means of personal funds.
