Development Objectives and Plans

In years to come, the CICU, Thailand will conduct classes on Mandarin Chinese and other Chinese cultural activities, gearing toward the general public. It will also put more emphasis on training courses for Chinese language teachers at institutions of higher education in Thailand as well as training courses for the Business Chinese Test (BCT).

The joint task between CU and PKU to cultivate and train graduate students is considered crucial due to the status and impact both Institutions had toward societies in its own country. And it is a long-term collaborative academic project. The present first step of the collaboration each university could undertake, among other things, is to facilitate the learning of graduate students by providing them with advisors of native places for consultant while they are collecting data abroad. This kind of cooperation not only helps accelerate and improve the training standards for CU's graduate students, but it also helps advance the teaching and learning standards for qualified language-personnel at institutions of higher education in Thailand and promote Chinese language to a wider audience.

The CICU, Thailand will invite notable Chinese and Thai experts and scholars in the fields of politics, economics, cultures, etc. for an academic lecture on special topics. It will at the same time coordinate the development of joint research projects of the faculty and experts of CU and PKU on topics relating to Chinese. In addition, those activities concerning Chinese language learning and cultures will be extended to a higher level and a more broadening realm of an in-depth research and study on issues such as Chinese language pedagogy, Chinese teaching resources, etc.

With great attention and generous support from H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, HANBAN, as well as the leaders from both universities, it is hoped that the CICU, Thailand will certainly grow into its own roles and incessantly perfect its own characteristics and features, contributing to the enhancement of cultural exchange and friendship between Chinese and Thai.
