On July 7, 2016, His Excellency Mr Jaime Nualart, Ambassador of Mexico to the Kingdom of Thailand, paid a visit to the Faculty of Arts. Warmly welcomed by Faculty Dean Associate Professor Kingkarn Thepkanjana, PhD, the Ambassador also met with Assistant Professor Penpisa Srivorart, PhD, Acting Head of the Western Languages Department, Assistant Professor Pasuree Luesakul, PhD, Director of the Center for Latin American Studies, and Ajarn Sukij Poopuang, PhD, lecturer in the Spanish Section. The purpose of the visit was to inform the Faculty of the possibilities of securing scholarships from the Mexican government. According to HE Mr Nualart, Mexican scholarships were available in various types, ranging from those for postgraduate students aiming to study Hispanic culture in Mexico to travel grants for Mexican professors wishing to conduct seminars and research in Thailand. The Ambassador emphasized that for these travel grants, professors should work across disciplines and their research and seminars in Thailand should attract Thai researchers both in the humanities and social sciences. Ambassaor and the Dean pledging stronger ties between the two institutes through future cultural activities and academic exchanges that can be organized together.
