On February 7 and 9, 2017, Chula Global Network, the Spanish Section and the Center for Latin American Studies, under the aegis of the Department of Western Languages, the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the Golden Age Investigation Group (Grupo de Investigación Siglo de Oro – GRISO), the University of Navarra, Spain, organized the public lecture series “The Spanish Golden Age: The Chronicles of the Indies and Don Quijote” at the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. This seminar was the first academic collaboration between the Spanish Section, Faculty of Arts, and GRISO, the University of Navarra.
The lecture series “The Spanish Golden Age: The Chronicles of the Indies and Don Quijote” was divided into two parts. On February 7, the lecture by Dr Angel Delgado Gomez focused on the Chronicles of the Indies, the first literary works in Spanish in Latin America and the invaluable testimonies to the “encounter” between the Old World and the New World. On February 9, the talk by Dr Carlos Mata Induráin focused on Miguel de Cervantes and his works, especially Don Quijote, the most important literary work of Spanish Literature.
