On April 5, 2017, the Dean welcomed the delegates from Ewha Womans University: Sang Mi Cho, Ph.D., Associate Vice President for International Affairs, Professor Haiyoung Lee, Dean of the Graduate School of Teaching Foreign Languages, and Regina Lee, Assistant Manager of the Office of International Affairs. The visit was part of the intention of Ewha Womans University to strengthen the ties between Chulalongkorn University and Ewha Womans University, especially now that the Faculty’s Korean Section has stepped up its plan to expand the field of Korean studies in Thailand in response to the increase in its popularity among Thai students. Dr. Cho expressed her interest in the Faculty’s BA program in Language and Culture (BALAC) and saw the potential of student exchange, as there are a number of international programs at Ewha Womans University that seek partner universities for future exchange and collaboration.
Founded in 1886, Ewha Womans University is the largest female educational institute in the world and remains one of the top universities in South Korea with such notable alumi as Han Myeong-Sook, South Korea’s former Prime Minister, and Hyun Jeong-eun, Chairwoman of the Hyundai Group.
