The Thai-UK World Class University Consortium successfully hosted a series of impactful events and workshops in June 2024, aimed at enhancing collaborative research and knowledge exchange between Thai and UK academic institutions. The project name is Modelling Flood Risk and Community Resilience in Rayong Province, Thailand. This project focused on hydrological modeling, rainfall prediction, and climate change impacts, aiming to merge scientific research with practical applications for community resilience.

We presented the findings of our hydrological modeling and rainfall prediction studies to officers at the Rayong Royal Irrigation Office and the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office in Rayong. The team shared insights on the community’s perception of climate change and floods.

Two-day workshop in Geography was conducted on June 22–23, 2024 at the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. Workshop on ENSO’s Climate Impacts and IPCC Model Predictions was presented by Dr Yi Wang, a lecturer from the University of Sussex. This workshop covered the effects of ENSO on Thailand’s climate, along with future climate change predictions for Southeast Asia based on IPCC models.

The second workshop was conducted by Dr John Barlow, a lecturer from the University of Sussex. His workshop focused on the use of digital elevation model (DEM) data for analyzing geomorphometry and detecting surface changes, providing valuable insights for environmental and geographical studies.

The workshops offered at Chulalongkorn University further enriched the knowledge and skills of participants, reinforcing the consortium’s commitment to academic excellence and practical application of research.
