On Friday, May 27, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts welcomed staff from Pace School of Performing Arts, Pace University, led by the Executive Director, Jorge Cacheiro and a famous theatre director, Cosmin Chivu. Following Pace University’s mission to create worldwide connections and equip its students with global knowledge and understanding, the School, which is part of Dyson College of Arts and Science, wished to acquire further collaboration with the Faculty of Arts in addition to the one with our Department of Dramatic Arts. This is considered their first visit after the MOU became official between the Faculty of Arts and Pace University earlier this month. Their proposal addressed student/faculty exchanges with the involvement of various departments at the Faculty of Arts. They additionally expressed their interest in special programs related to Thai language and culture. The partnership was hoped to advance to the university level in the future.
Founded in 1906, Pace University, based in New York City, is a private university focusing on liberal arts and science. The School of Performing Arts is working hard to generate their connections not only in the international level but also national level. To cater to their students’ needs, they implemented professional intensive workshops in Los Angeles to jump start potential acting careers. The School also secured affiliations with private sectors such as Netflix and Amazon. As a well-known institution in performing arts, the School of Performing Arts has produced many famous alumni in American show business, among them, Bradley Cooper, a celebrated actor/producer nominated for four Academy Awards.
Pace School of Performing Arts has been enjoying student exchange programs with our Department of Dramatic Arts for a number of years even before the MOU was signed. At the moment, they are teaming up in a joint project in which twenty Pace University students perform at the Department and our students will participate in a workshop in New York later in November. As a final note, our visitors expressed their gratitude towards the cooperation and hospitality administered by the Department of Dramatic Arts and will be happy to accommodate our Faculty in any way possible. The Faculty of Arts is proud of the Department of Dramatic Arts who is considered one of our torch carriers in cosmopolitan partnerships with their never ending endeavor in building international alliances.
