On June 15, 2016, Associate Professor Michio Aritmisu, Ph.D., a visiting scholar from Keio University, was officially welcomed to the Faculty. Dr. Aritmisu will be affiliated with the Department of Dramatic Arts from June 2016 to March 2018, conducting research entitled ‘Contemporary Discourse on Race and the Impact of Americanization in Thailand and Other South Eastern Asian Nations’. Prior to his teaching career at Keio University, Dr. Aritmisu received his M.A. in English and Ph.D. in African and African American Studies from Harvard University. His dissertation was titled ‘Black Notes on Asia: Composite figurations of Asia in the African-American transcultural imagination, 1923-2013’.
