On Wednesday May 11, 2016, the Faculty Dean and her team welcomed delegates from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, City University of Hong Kong. The visiting Dean, Xiaowei Zang, Ph.D. and the Assistant Dean, Hon S. Chan came to share their ideas in internationalization in higher education as well as to seek opportunities to strengthen the ties between our institutions. Among issues raised were the need to create a platform in which information can be conveniently retrieved, especially the list of courses taught in English that are available for enrolment for prospective incoming students, the possibility of a double-degree Ph.D. program in which students will be able to benefit from studying both in Bangkok and Hong Kong, as well as the possibility of arranging internships for incoming exchange students.

Located in Kowloon, the City University of Hong Kong is one of the eight government-sponsored higher education institutes. It was founded in 1984 as City Polytechnic of Hong Kong and assumed full university status ten years later. The rise in its status can be attributed to the university’s cutting-edge research and a high level of internationalization, with strong support from sponsoring bodies in the private sector. The university’s success is evidenced by its double degree programs with such prestigious world-class institutes as Columbia University.
