Factsheets of Partner Universities

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be a student of Chulalongkorn University for at least two semesters.
  • Applicants must not be on academic probation during the semester or year abroad.
  • Applicants must have a GPAX of at least 2.75 (or as required by partner universities)
  • If required by partner universities, applicants must have valid proof of language proficiency (of English or of the language used in instruction)
  • Applicants must return and study at Chulalongkorn University for at least one semester before their graduation.

Documents

  1. A completed application form 
  2. Two letters of recommendation
  3. An up-to-date transcript of academic records
  4. A proficiency score record of English and/or of the language taught in the classes you plan to enroll in (if required by partner universities)
  5. A copy of your passport
  6. CV
  7. A 1-inch-colored photo taken no more than six months in polite attire or a civil servant’s uniform, attached to the first page of this application form

Application Process

  • The Section of International Affairs of the Faculty of Arts (for faculty-level MOUs) and the Office of International Affairs and Global Network of Chulalongkorn University or OIA (for university-level MOUs) will announce the application period in January (for Fall semester) and in August (for spring semester).
  • Students must review partner universities’ factsheets for specific requirements before submitting their applications.
  • Students can choose up to three universities that they would like to apply for, and they must specify which program(s) at partner universities they would like to join, for either one semester or two semesters (one academic year).
  • Transferred credits from partner universities must not exceed 25% of all credit required to complete the students’ academic program at the Faculty of Arts. Students can enroll in a minimum of 1 course and up to 7 courses per semester.

Application Process for Faculty-Level MOUs

  • The Section of International Affairs of the Faculty of Arts will announce when the outbound exchange program is open for applications and will share information on the partner universities that students can choose through two channels: (1) all departments and academic programs at the faculty of Arts and (2) the International Affairs Faculty of Arts, CU Facebook page.
  • Students submit their application forms and relevant documents online via Google form.
  • Two recommenders submit the completed recommendation forms for the applicants.
  • Should the number of applicants exceed the number allocated by partner universities, the Section of International Affairs reserves the right to make a final decision based on the applicants’ study plan(s), CV, GPAX, language requirement(s) and recommendation forms.
  • The Section of International Affairs will notify students of the application results and will nominate successful applicants to the partner university.

Application Process for University-Level MOUs

  • The Section of International Affairs of the Faculty of Arts will announce when the OIA exchange program is open for applications for university-level MOUs and will share information on the partner universities that students can choose through two channels: (1) all departments and academic programs at the faculty of Arts and (2) the International Affairs Faculty of Arts, CU Facebook page.
  • Students submit the following documents directly to the OIA:
    • The OIA application form
    • The letters of recommendation
    • The nomination letter from the Faculty of Arts
  • The nomination letter is available upon request by submitting the nomination letter request form to the Section of International Affairs of the Faculty of Arts. The nomination letter will be sent to the students within four (4) business days after the request form is received.
  • The OIA will select successful applicants and then notify the students of the application result. The OIA will also nominate successful applicants to the partner university for university-level MOUs.

Information for Successful Applicants

  • For some universities that require an application through their online portal, students will be notified once the decision is made. 
  • The OIA or the Faculty of Arts will send the details of candidates to partner universities in line with the timeframe designated by each university. 
  • Once approved by partner universities, students will be notified, and letters of notification will be given for visa application. 
  • Once officially accepted, students may buy flight tickets, travel insurance, and health insurance. 
  • Availability of accommodation is dependent upon the resources of each university. 

Guidelines for Outbound Exchange Students

Before Departure

  • All outbound exchange students must submit the following documents to their department or academic program:
    • Credit Transfer Request Form (for the entire duration of their exchange program: one semester or two semesters [one academic year])
    • Credit conversion document of the host university
    • The academic calendar of the host university
  • The students’ department and academic program will forward the documents to the Academic Section. The documents will be reviewed and approved by the International Affairs Committee and the Faculty Administrative Board.
  • Once the documents are approved, all outbound exchange students must sign the following documents:
  • All outbound exchange students must submit a request for leave of absence and pay the tuition fee at Chulalongkorn University for their semester(s) abroad (Leave of absence information available at https://www.reg.chula.ac.th/en/student/studenthandbook/onleave/)

Upon arrival at host university

  • All outbound exchange students must acquire the signature of the academic advisor or exchange coordinator at the host university (and university seal, if available) on the Outbound Exchange Learning Agreement form. Students must submit the completed form to the Section of International Affairs (at exchange.artschula@gmail.com) within one month after the semester starts at the host university.
  • If changes need to be made to the course(s) that the students are taking at the host university, the students must notify their department or academic program at the faculty of Arts as soon as possible and submit the Course Change Request form at least one month before the final exam at the host university:

The students’ department or academic program will forward the request to the Academic section and then to the International Affairs Committee and the Faculty Administrative Board for approval.

Upon their return to Thailand after exchange program completion

  • All outbound exchange students must submit a copy of their transcript and the credit conversion document to their department and or academic program. The documents will be forwarded to the Academic section and then to the International Affairs Committee and the Faculty Administrative Board for approval.

*** The grade earned at the partner institution that must be at least C or equivalent (as specified in the credit conversion document) to be assigned an S in the Chulalongkorn University transcript. The grade earned at the partner institution that is lower than C (or equivalent) will be assigned a U, which means the student will not receive Honors of any kind upon their graduation.

  • After completing the exchange program, students must study at Chulalongkorn University for at least one semester before their graduation.
