For M.A. Program

Required qualifications

1. Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any field from Thai or foreign universities with a GPA of not lower than 3.00 (in the 4.00 GPA system).
2. Applicants must have a good command of English

1. A completed application form with a photograph (3 cm x 4 cm) attached (Download Application Form)

2. A copy of a Bachelor’s Degree certificate and its official English translation with a university’s seal if the original language is not English.
3. A copy of an academic transcript and its official English translation with a university’s seal if the original language is not English.

4. A copy of the grade report and its conversion to the 4.00 GPA system if the grading system is not in 4.00 GPA system by default. Download GPA conversion Report 

5. Curriculum Vitae.

6. Two recommendation letters from the dean, or head of department or advisor of the applicant’s university. The letters must contain the university’s seals, as well as the signature, the affiliation, and the university’s email address of the recommenders.

7. Any of the following English Proficiency test result:
CU-TEP ≥ 70
TOEFL (Paper-based ≥ 532, Computer-based ≥ 199, Internet-based ≥ 72)
– IELTS ≥ 6.0 and not lower than 5.5 in each band.

8. A preliminary research proposal including the project’s title, literature review, objectives, hypotheses, and significance to Thai Studies.

9. A copy of a passport or Thai National ID card.

Admission

Students can join the program in either the 1st or 2nd semester of every year. Please see the admission period according to the calendar academic year of Chulalongkorn University.

*Any application and complete documents submitted after the deadline of the Semester 1 will be moved to Semester 2 admission.

Academic Calendar

The academic year is divided into two semesters.

  • First semester: August – December
  • Second semester: January – May

Fees and Expenses

  • Thai Student: 60,500 baht/semester
  • Foreign Student: 123,700 baht/semester

Requirements for Graduation

Plan B

  • Minimum of 24 credits of coursework (12 credits for compulsory courses, 12 credits for elective courses)
  • A thesis equivalent to 12 credits, together with an oral examination
  • A publication in a form of proceeding or published journal article
  • Minimum of 33 credits of coursework (12 credits for compulsory courses, 21 credits for elective courses)
  • A special research equivalent to 3 credits, together with comprehensive exam
