The talk, “Roles for information professionals in the fake news era” by Dr.Heidi Julien
The time is now, the urgency is severe. We must take a stand in the face of fake news and the denigration of truth and expertise by those with power and influence. Information professionals are uniquely positioned to contribute our expertise to addressing one of the most profoundly damaging issues of our time: disregard for expertise and for credible, fact-based information. We have the intellectual and practical tools to address these issues and we have a professional responsibility to employ them.
This talk, entitled “Roles for information professionals in the fake news era” by Dr.Heidi Julien, Professor of Information Science at the University of Buffalo, State University of New York, will address the ways in which we can exercise these responsibilities. Her talk will be on March 6, 2020 at 10.00am at Boromrajakumari Building room 501. For reservation, please visit http://www.arts.chula.ac.th/libsci/events/fakenewstalk2020/.
This event is hosted by the Department of Library Science, Faculty of Arts in collaboration with the Information Landscape Research Unit, Chulalongkorn University.
