On Monday, December 9, 2019, the Department of Geography welcomed Dr. Shahnawaz, from the University of Salzburg to conduct a workshop on Geospatial Application of Satellite Generated Atmospheric and Climatic Observations (December 9-13, 2019).
The application of Geospatial technology to the study of climate is believed to efficiently facilitate the research in climate change. Sponsored by ERASMUS+ Staff Mobility Program and participated by Geography major students, this workshop aims to provide skills in reading satellite images to apply to spatial decision making.
Dr. Shahnawaz is Director of UNIGIS International (South and Southeast Asia) at the Interfaculty Department of Geoinformatics – Z_GIS, University of Salzburg. He has established cooperation for Geospatial education between Z_GIS and a number of leading universities in South and Southeast Asia. In 2017, Dr. Shahnawaz was awarded the Excellency Award 2017 by the Union of Geographic Information Technologists (UGIT) at Bangalore University for his contributions in enhancing geospatial education, training and research in South and Southeast Asia over last fifteen years. https://unigis.net/news/excellence-award-unigis-se-asia-director-dr-shahnawaz/
