On Friday 17 July 2026, Associate Professor Nida Tiranasawasdi, PhD, Head of the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, had the pleasure of welcoming Ms Michelle Doherty, Political Counsellor and Head of Public Diplomacy and Events at the Embassy of Ireland in Thailand, for the formal presentation of books under the Bloomsday Global Book Giveaway Programme 2026, an initiative of the Government of Ireland. The ceremony took place during Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which runs from July to December 2026, lending further significance to this occasion of literary, cultural and academic exchange.
The event was moderated by Associate Professor Verita Sriratana, PhD, who had previously participated in a panel discussion on James Joyce’s life and literary legacy, held as part of the 2026 Bloomsday celebrations and Irish Literature Festival in Bangkok.
The ceremony was also attended by Khun Wasu Vipoosanapat, Public Diplomacy and Events Officer at the Embassy of Ireland in Thailand; Assistant Professor Preena Kangkun, PhD; Assistant Professor Mathurin Leelasetakul, PhD; Dr Khanin Chaiphet; and Dr Teaka Sowaprux.
Among the books generously presented by the Embassy of Ireland to the Department of English and the Faculty of Arts Library were Martin Doyle’s A Hosting: Interviews with Irish Writers, Donal Ryan’s The Spinning Heart and Emma Donoghue’s The Pull of the Stars. Together, these works represent the richness and range of contemporary Irish writing.

เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 17 กรกฎาคม 2569 รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ณิดา ติรณสวัสดิ์ หัวหน้าภาควิชาภาษาอังกฤษ คณะอักษรศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ได้ต้อนรับคุณมิเชล โดเฮอร์ตี้ ที่ปรึกษาฝ่ายการเมืองและหัวหน้าฝ่ายงานการทูตสาธารณะและกิจกรรม สถานเอกอัครราชทูตไอร์แลนด์ประจำประเทศไทย ในพิธีมอบหนังสือภายใต้โครงการ Bloomsday Global Book Giveaway Programme 2026 ของรัฐบาลไอร์แลนด์ พิธีดังกล่าวจัดขึ้นในช่วงที่ไอร์แลนด์ดำรงตำแหน่งประธานคณะมนตรีแห่งสหภาพยุโรป ระหว่างเดือนกรกฎาคม ถึง ธันวาคม 2569 นับเป็นการเน้นย้ำความสำคัญของการแลกเปลี่ยนทางวรรณกรรม วัฒนธรรม และวิชาการในครั้งนี้
รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วริตตา ศรีรัตนา เป็นผู้ดำเนินรายการในพิธี โดยก่อนหน้านี้ได้ร่วมเป็นวิทยากรในงานเสวนาว่าด้วยชีวิตและมรดกทางวรรณกรรมของเจมส์ จอยซ์ ซึ่งจัดขึ้นเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการเฉลิมฉลองบลูมส์เดย์และเทศกาลวรรณกรรมไอริช ประจำปี 2569
ผู้เข้าร่วมพิธีมอบหนังสือในครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ คุณวสุ วิภูษณะภัทร์ เจ้าหน้าที่ฝ่ายการทูตสาธารณะและกิจกรรม สถานเอกอัครราชทูตไอร์แลนด์ประจำประเทศไทย ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ปรีณา แข่งขัน ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.มธุริน ลีละเศรษฐกุล อาจารย์ ดร.คณิน ชัยเพ็ชร์ และอาจารย์ ดร.ทีฆะ เสาวพฤกษ์
หนังสือที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตไอร์แลนด์มอบแก่ภาควิชาภาษาอังกฤษและห้องสมุดคณะอักษรศาสตร์ ประกอบด้วย A Hosting: Interviews with Irish Writers ของมาร์ติน ดอยล์ The Spinning Heart ของโดนัล ไรอัน และ The Pull of the Stars ของเอมมา โดนอฮิว ตัวบทเหล่านี้สะท้อนให้ผู้อ่านเห็นถึงความรุ่มรวยและความหลากหลายของวรรณกรรมไอร์แลนด์ร่วมสมัย
