Closing Ceremony of a Thai Language and Culture Program for the Peruvians

On Saturday June 25, 2022, the Faculty of Arts hosted the closing Ceremony of the first Thai Language and Culture Program for the Peruvians. Initiated by HE Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador of Thailand to Peru and sponsored by the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima, Peru, this Program was organized by the Faculty of Arts’ Center for Thai as a Foreign Language and was opened to any Peruvian citizens.

The well-structured program comprises classes on Thai language and lectures on Thai culture and relationship between Thailand and Latin America. To connect with the participants, the program was also joined by students and staff from the Faculty of Arts’ Spanish Section led by Associate Pasuree Luesakul and Dr. Narut Chaosakun. Wenika Wichaiwatthana from Thai Public

Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) was also invited to be a guest speaker. In addition to academic staff, the Faculty of Arts truly appreciates the efforts of the staff at the CTFL and CASCA.

The collaboration above resulted in many positive feedbacks despite the night classes due to the time difference. Future classes are likely to happen considering the number of people showing interest. In addition to the lessons, the program provided opportunities for people speaking different languages to bond and to share experiences. It is hoped that more programs of this nature will be implemented to help people from different parts of the world stay connected.
