ระหว่างวันที่ 28–30 กรกฎาคม 2569 รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.สุรเดช โชติอุดมพันธ์ คณบดีคณะอักษรศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย พร้อมด้วย รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ภาสุรี ลือสกุล รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิรัชกิจ และผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ภรณี สิงห์เปลี่ยม ผู้อำนวยการหลักสูตรอักษรศาสตรบัณฑิต สาขาภาษาและวัฒนธรรม (Bachelor of Arts in Language and Culture: BALAC) ได้เดินทางเยือนประเทศญี่ปุ่น ภายใต้โครงการเสริมสร้างเครือข่ายนานาชาติระหว่างคณะอักษรศาสตร์กับมหาวิทยาลัยชั้นนำของประเทศญี่ปุ่น จำนวน 4 แห่ง ได้แก่ Waseda University, Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies และ Kyoto University
เมื่อวันที่ 28 กรกฎาคม 2569 มีพิธีลงนามต่ออายุบันทึกความร่วมมือ (MOU) เพื่อดำเนินการหลักสูตรสองปริญญาข้ามสถาบัน (Double Degree) ระหว่าง School of International Liberal Studies, Waseda University และหลักสูตร BALAC โดยศาสตราจารย์ Satoshi Inaba คณบดี School of International Liberal Studies และรองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.สุรเดช โชติอุดมพันธ์
ความร่วมมือดังกล่าวนับเป็นการดำเนินการหลักสูตรสองปริญญาข้ามสถาบันเพื่อส่งเสริมความเป็นนานาชาติของหลักสูตร Balac เข้าสู่ปีที่ 6 นอกจากนี้ คณะผู้แทนจากคณะอักษรศาสตร์ยังได้ทำความรู้จักกับศาสตราจารย์ ดร. Sylvain Detey คณบดีท่านใหม่ School of International Liberal Studies เพื่อหารือขยายความร่วมมือระหว่าง 2 สถาบันในอนาคตอีกด้วย
ในวันที่ 29 กรกฎาคม 2569 รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.สุรเดช โชติอุดมพันธ์ และศาสตราจารย์ Eric Matsunaga คณบดี School of Global Studies and Collaboration ได้ร่วมลงนามส่วนเพิ่มเติม (Addendum) ของบันทึกความร่วมมือด้านการแลกเปลี่ยนนิสิต ระหว่างคณะอักษรศาสตร์ และ School of Global Studies and Collaboration, Aoyama Gakuin University เพื่อจัดตั้งโครงการ MITRA (Multi-Institutions Talent and Research Alliance) ซึ่งศาสตราจารย์ Masanobu Horie ผู้ดูแลโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนของ School of Global Studies and Collaboration เป็นผู้ริเริ่ม
โครงการดังกล่าวเป็นความร่วมมือรูปแบบใหม่ระหว่าง Aoyama Gakuin University และมหาวิทยาลัยคู่สัญญาการแลกเปลี่ยนสำคัญในอาเซียน ได้แก่ Universitas Gadjah Mada (อินโดนีเซีย), Universiti Malaya (มาเลเซีย) และจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย โดยนิสิตนักศึกษาจากทั้ง 4 สถาบันจะได้เรียนรู้และทำผลงานวิชาการร่วมกัน ผ่านรูปแบบทั้งออนไลน์และออนไซต์ในประเทศของตนเองและประเทศญี่ปุ่น เพื่อเสริมสร้างทักษะการทำงานร่วมกันในบริบทนานาชาติและการเป็นพลเมืองโลก
ในวันเดียวกัน คณะผู้แทนคณะอักษรศาสตร์ยังได้เข้าพบผู้บริหารของ Tokyo University of Foreign Studies ซึ่งเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยคู่สัญญาในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยกับจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย เพื่อหารือแนวทางการขยายความร่วมมือ โดยเฉพาะด้านการแลกเปลี่ยนนิสิตนักศึกษาและการพัฒนาหลักสูตรระยะสั้นสำหรับนักศึกษาที่สนใจภาษาและวัฒนธรรมไทย เนื่องจาก Tokyo University of Foreign Studies ถือเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยแห่งแรกในญี่ปุ่นที่เปิดสอนหลักสูตรเอกภาษาไทย และได้ส่งนักศึกษามาแลกเปลี่ยนกับภาควิชาภาษาไทย คณะอักษรศาสตร์ อย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยมีศาสตราจารย์ ดร. Nobuo Haruna อธิการบดี และศาสตราจารย์ ดร. โฆษิต ทิพย์เทียมพงษ์ เข้าร่วมการหารือ
เมื่อวันที่ 30 กรกฎาคม 2569 คณะผู้แทนคณะอักษรศาสตร์ได้เยือน Kyoto University ซึ่งเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยคู่สัญญาในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยกับจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยเช่นเดียวกัน โดยในช่วงเช้า ได้เข้าพบกับศาสตราจารย์ ดร. Junko Kawai และรองศาสตราจารย์ Fumitaka Wakamatsu จาก Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences (ILAS) ซึ่งจัดการเรียนการสอนด้านภาษาและวัฒนธรรมญี่ปุ่นสำหรับนักศึกษานานาชาติ โดยในปีนี้ ILAS ได้จัดโครงการภาคฤดูร้อน ซึ่งมีนิสิตเอกภาษาญี่ปุ่น ชั้นปีที่ 1 ของคณะอักษรศาสตร์เข้าร่วมจำนวน 5 คน ด้วยทุนจาก Japan Foundation นอกจากนี้ ยังได้ประชุมร่วมกับเจ้าหน้าที่จาก International Education and Student Mobility Division เพื่อหารือแนวทางการปรับปรุงและขยายความร่วมมือด้านการแลกเปลี่ยนนิสิตระหว่างสองมหาวิทยาลัยในอนาคต
ในช่วงบ่ายของวันเดียวกัน คณะผู้แทนฯ ได้เข้าพบผู้บริหารจาก Center for Southeast Asian Studies นำโดยศาสตราจารย์ ดร. Masaaki Okamoto ผู้อำนวยการศูนย์ และศาสตราจารย์ ดร. Tatsuki Kataoka จาก Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies เพื่อหารือความเป็นไปได้ในการจัดการประชุมนานาชาติร่วมกัน รวมถึงการแลกเปลี่ยนอาจารย์และนิสิตนักศึกษา ปิดท้ายด้วยสัมมนาในหัวข้อ “Mediated Phet (Sex/Gender): Observations from Contemporary Thailand” โดยผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ภรณี สิงห์เปลี่ยม ซึ่งเป็นการนำเสนอเนื้อหาส่วนหนึ่งจากหนังสือ Transformations of Sexuality and Gender in the Thai Perspective: Politics, Media, and Citizenship โดยกิจกรรมต่างๆ ในภาคบ่ายนี้ได้รับความอนุเคราะห์ในการประสานงานจากศาสตราจารย์ ดร.เดชา ตั้งสีฟ้า นักวิจัยประจำ Center for Southeast Asian Studies
นอกจากนี้ ในโอกาสการเยือนประเทศญี่ปุ่นครั้งนี้ คณะผู้แทนจากคณะอักษรศาสตร์ยังได้พบปะกับนิสิตปัจจุบันและนิสิตเก่าของคณะอักษรศาสตร์ในกรุงโตเกียวและเมืองเกียวโต ได้แก่ นางสาวณัฏฐ์ฐา โพธิ์แมนกุล นิสิตแลกเปลี่ยน ณ Rikkyo University ภายใต้ทุน Sato Yo Scholarship Foundation รวมถึงนิสิตเก่าที่ได้รับทุนรัฐบาลญี่ปุ่น ได้แก่ นางสาวอรณิชา บุญปัญญา ซึ่งกำลังจะสำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาเอกจาก Waseda University นายณฐชนน บุญศฤงคารนนท์ และนายดอม รุ่งเรือง นักศึกษาระดับบัณฑิตศึกษาของ Kyoto University
การเยือนในครั้งนี้สะท้อนถึงความมุ่งมั่นของคณะอักษรศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ในการขยายเครือข่ายความร่วมมือทางวิชาการในระดับนานาชาติ ตลอดจนการพัฒนาศักยภาพนิสิตให้พร้อมสู่การเป็นพลเมืองโลกในอนาคต

From 28 to 30 July 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Suradech Chotiudompant, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, together with Associate Professor Dr. Pasuree Luesakul, Associate Dean for International Affairs, and Assistant Professor Dr. Porranee Singpliam, Director of the Bachelor of Arts in Language and Culture (BALAC) Program, travelled to Japan under the project to strengthen international networks between the Faculty of Arts and four leading Japanese universities, namely Waseda University, Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and Kyoto University.
On 28 July 2026, a signing ceremony was held to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the cross-institutional Double Degree program between the School of International Liberal Studies, Waseda University, and the BALAC program. The MOU was signed by Professor Satoshi Inaba, Dean of the School of International Liberal Studies, and Associate Professor Dr. Suradech Chotiudompant. This marks the beginning of the sixth year of the cross-institutional Double Degree program aimed at promoting the internationalisation of the BALAC program. In addition, the delegation from the Faculty of Arts also had the opportunity to meet Professor Dr. Sylvain Detey, the newly appointed Dean of the School of International Liberal Studies, to discuss future cooperation between the two institutions.
On 29 July 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Suradech Chotiudompant and Professor Eric Matsunaga, Dean of the School of Global Studies and Collaboration, signed an Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding on student exchange between the Faculty of Arts and the School of Global Studies and Collaboration, Aoyama Gakuin University, to establish the MITRA (Multi-Institutions Talent and Research Alliance) program, an initiative led by Professor Masanobu Horie, who oversees exchange programs at the School of Global Studies and Collaboration.
The MITRA program is a new form of cooperation between Aoyama Gakuin University and its key exchange partner universities in ASEAN, namely Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia), Universiti Malaya (Malaysia), and Chulalongkorn University. Under MITRA, students from the four institutions will have the opportunity to learn and produce academic work together through both online and on-site formats in their home countries and in Japan, in order to build collaborative skills in international contexts and foster global citizenship.
On the same day, the delegation from the Faculty of Arts also met with the administration of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, a university-level partner institution of Chulalongkorn University, to discuss ways of expanding cooperation, particularly in student exchange and the development of short-term programs for students interested in Thai language and culture, as Tokyo University of Foreign Studies is the first university in Japan to offer a major in Thai language and has continuously sent exchange students to the Department of Thai, Faculty of Arts. The discussion was attended by Professor Dr. Nobuo Haruna, President of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and Professor Dr. Kosit Tiptiempong.
On 30 July 2026, the delegation from the Faculty of Arts visited Kyoto University, a university-level partner institution of Chulalongkorn University. In the morning, the delegation met with Professor Dr. Junko Kawai and Associate Professor Fumitaka Wakamatsu of the Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences (ILAS). ILAS is an institute that offers courses in the Japanese language and culture for international students and this year the institute held a summer program in which five first-year Japanese-major students from the Faculty of Arts participated, with funding from the Japan Foundation. The delegation also met with staff from the International Education and Student Mobility Division to discuss ways of improving and expanding student exchange cooperation between the two universities.
In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation met with the administration of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, led by Professor Dr. Masaaki Okamoto, Director of the Center, and Professor Dr. Tatsuki Kataoka of the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies, to discuss the possibility of jointly organising an international conference, as well as faculty and student exchange. The day concluded with a seminar on the topic “Mediated Phet (Sex/Gender): Observations from Contemporary Thailand” by Assistant Professor Dr. Porranee Singpliam. The topic of this seminar is a part of her book titled “Transformations of Sexuality and Gender in the Thai Perspective: Politics, Media, and Citizenship.” The afternoon’s activities were coordinated with the kind assistance of Professor Dr. Decha Tangseefa, a researcher at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Kyoto University.
In addition, on the occasion of this visit to Japan, the delegation from the Faculty of Arts also met with current and former students of the Faculty of Arts in Tokyo and Kyoto, namely Ms. Nattha Pomankul, an exchange student at Rikkyo University under the Sato Yo Scholarship Foundation; Ms. Ornicha Boonpanya, an alumnus who is completing her Ph.D. at Waseda University under the Japanese government scholarship; as well as two alumni who are both graduate students at Kyoto University under Japanese government scholarships, Mr. Natchanon Bunsaringkaranont and Mr. Dom Roongruang. This visit to Japan reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, to expanding its international academic network, as well as to developing students’ potential to become global citizens in the future.
